Hi Friends, Two days ago I was working with one client wordpress project and that wordpress website was having old version of wordpress, So I thought to update it to latest wordpress 3.1.2 version So I started update but then it asked me for FTP details, So I remove this problem of asking FTP details by solution given in this article (Solution For WordPress Asking FTP While Install Plugins From Admin ). After remove that FTP problem I start updating wordpress but I don’t know what happen, it continuously updating and that updation was not completed after 10 minutes, So I got that some problem occurred while updating wordpress, so I stopped it and then refresh page, It showed me “Briefly Unavailable for Scheduled Maintenance” on my website admin and also on front end side.
I searched on google about it and finally found solution for this problem. When we update wordpress or any plugin WordPress places a file in the blog root directory called “.maintenance” that’s why it showed site in maintenance while updating plugin or wordpress. So while updating if our updation not completed till end than that file not removed by WordPress and thats why our site remains in maintenance mode. So to remove maintenance mode from website or message “Briefly Unavailable for Scheduled Maintenance” connect to FTP and remove/delete that “.maintenance” file from your blog root and then check your blog. Voila! that message is not there anymore and your website running perfectly.
